Winepress

A photograph of a recently-discovered wine press at Chorazin (Korazin).  The winepress is composed of a mosaic-covered pressing floor (right side of the picture) and a lime-plastered collecting vat below it (right side of image).  Note the three steps leading into the collecting vat!

Winepresses are usually located near the vineyards, but this winepress is located just south of one of the "neighborhoods" (insula) inside of Chorazin.
