View from the southeast looking northwest at architectural fragments of the Roman city gate of Tiberias. Note the square slab (the plinth) that supports the column. This is not part of the city gate built by Herod Antipas, but the use of a plinth is characteristic of the late Roman Period. Also, note the carved basalt gate/door post to the right (north) of the column and plinth.
