Synagogue Interior

View looking northwest within the synagogue at Capernaum.  The four complete (reconstructed) columns and the reconstructed lintels outline the rear aisle of the synagogue.  In the foreground are column bases and column and capital fragments.  They have been placed upon plinths—square bases—which are typical of Roman architecture.
