Synagogue Artist's Reconstruction

Synagogue Artist

View looking east at the "first-century" synagogue that was discovered at Magdala.  The entrance was from the west, in the foreground of the picture.

The "broad room" just beyond the entrance is thought to be a "study room" of the synagogue.

Note the low benches around the synagogue.

The unique stone box in the center of the image is thought by some to be a "table" on top of which the Torah scroll was placed for reading.
