Cut Through Kurkar

Cut Through Kurkar

View looking east.  The modern road builders have cut through one of the three kurkar ridges that in their natural state block the flow of the wadis into the Mediterranean Sea.  On both the right (north) and left (south) sides of the road the kurkar stone is clearly visible.

Another modern road runs on the bridge in the center of the image—actually right on top of one of the kurkar ridges (= the high ground in the area!).  The railroad crossing is beyond the bridge and is not visible in the image.
