VI Altar

View looking west at the interior of station six on the Via Dolorosa.  This is the “Church of the Holy Face,” part of the remains of the Crusader monastery of St. Cosmos that was refurbished by Barluzzi in 1953.  Note the refurbished Crusader arches of the chapel.  This chapel is served by the “Little Sisters,” a Greek Catholic rite.

The chapel here commemorates Veronica wiping the face of Jesus—not mentioned in the gospels, but in “tradition.”
