MB City Wall

MB City Wall

View looking southwest along the "Cyclopean Wall" that is located on the northwest side of Shechem.  This wall dates to the end of the Middle Bronze Age (ca. 1650-1550 BC) and continued in use during the Late Bronze Age.

It is over 30 ft. [9 m.] high and a stone and mud brick wall was built on its summit.  The protruding stones on the left edge of the image are from the gate that projects outward.

Note in the background all of the modern buildings of Nablus on the lower slope of Mt. Gerizim.
