North City Gate

North City Gate

View looking north-northwest from within the city of Shechem out through one of the massive city gates.  The worn path actually leads out from the city.  Note the massive foundation stones of the gate—similar to those used in the Cyclopean Wall.

The gate, like the associated Cyclopean Wall, dates to the end of the Middle Bronze Age (ca. 1650-1550 BC) and continued in use during the Late Bronze Age.
