North Church Lintel

This is a photograph of one of the lintels above one of the doorways that lead into the North Church.  In the center keystone, note the cross, and the Greek letters alpha and omega— Rev. 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty” (and Rev 21:6; 22:13).

The remainder of the symbols are geometric patterns.

The church was constructed in the fourth century AD and, following an earthquake, it was reconstructed at the beginning of the sixth century AD.
