If you enlarge the image the leather gloves that the boxers wore, sometimes with metal bands—as in this case, are visible.  Compare the handware of the previous boxer.

By his lower left leg note the smaller, but more mature person—possibly his trainer—that serves as a support for the statue.

Despite the “serenity” of this statue boxing matches could go on for hours and were won when your opponent conceded defeat or lost consciousness!
