Granary of Hadrian

Granary of Hadrian

View looking south at the well-preserved eight-chambered granary of Hadrian (Roman Emperor A.D. 117–138).   The two-story stone structure is on the left side of the image.  To the right (north) of the granary is the "Pseudoperipteral Temple-Tomb.

The green reeds in the foreground are located in a marshy area where the ancient harbor used to be.  In the distance, the blue Mediterranean is visible.

Compare the Granary of Hadrian at Andriace—only 35 mi. [56 km.] to the east.
