Propylon (Entrance)

Propylon (Entrance)

View looking west at the, roughly, square propylon (entrance) to the courtyard of the Asclepion. The picture was taken from the western end of the Via Tecta.

The propylon was surrounded on three sides by colonnades — on the far side steps led down to the Asclepion proper. The visible remains are from the Late Roman period.
