Acroterium/Acroterion

Acroterium/Acroterion

View of a well–preserved acroterion from the propylon of the Asclepion at Pergamum. An acroterion was an ornament located at the corner or peak of  a roof (in this case a corner projection). I estimate that this complete acroterion is about 3 ft. [1 m.] high.

Artifact on display in the museum at Bergama (the modern city by Pergamum).
