Lydian House Detail

Lydian House Detail

This picture is of the upper portion of a half of a "Lydian House" that was built by the excavators of Sardis.  Note the colorful terra cotta roof tiles and the drainage downspouts.  In black, white, and red griffins, warriors, and geometric patterns are depicted.

All of these colorful representations are based upon the finds at Sardis from the time of the Kingdom of Lydia (ca. 1200 B.C. to 546 B.C.).
