Standard Linear Measure

View of a portion of a marked bronze ingot that served as a standard linear measure.  This artifact, dating to the Kassite Period, fifteenth century B.C., is from the ancient site of Nippur—in southern Iraq.

Note the notches on the bar to indicated standard distances.
