Obelisk of Thutmose III

Obelisk of Thutmose III

A view of the details of the Hieroglyphic inscription on one side of the Egyptian Obelisk of the Egyptian Ruler Thutmose III (r. 1457–1425 BC)).  It was originally placed in a Temple in Karnak, Egypt.  It is about 60 feet high. This is the top third of the obelisk—it broke when being transported during the days of Constantine.  Theodosius I placed it on its marble base (ca. AD 390).
