House of Alexander the Great 1

View looking west at the "house of Alexander the Great" that is located in a residential area of Priene—near the western gate.  The entrance is the break in the stone wall on the right side of the entrance—to the right of the uproot stump.  The area outlined here is the courtyard of the structure.

It is believed that Alexander resided here in 334 B.C. during his siege of Miletus.  After his departure it was turned into a place to honor/worship him.  The "finds" include sacrifical table stands, statuettes, terra cotta figurines and the upper part of a statue of Alexander (marble; in the Berlin Museum).
