Theater 2

Theater 2

View looking northwest at the cavea and orchestra are of the smaller of the two theaters discovered at Knidos.

This theater could seat 5,000 and is Greek in style: built into the hillside; seating area more than a half circle in size; orchestra area; and originally without a skene (stage added by the Romans).   This is one of the earliest examples of a theater using a vomitorium (the arch visible on the left side of the image)
