Temple to the Emperors East

View looking northwest.  This well–preserved temple was dedicated to the Roman Emperors.  It was probably built around AD 200 during the reign of Septimius Severus.

The entrance to the temple is on the left (south) side of the image.  The completely preserved eastern wall is actually unfinished.  Note all the protrusions on each of the stones of the wall.  If the temple had been completed, these would have been chipped/smoothed off.  Compare the smoothed stones of the western wall of this temple.  However, the upper portion of this wall was completed.
