Commemorative Arch

Commemorative Arch

View looking southeast at the southern end of the Upper Agora.  On the right side of the image is an arch that was dedicated to the Roman Emperor Caligula (r. A.D. 37–41) but was rededicated to Claudius (r. A.D. 41–54).

The circle to the left of it, along with its specially shaped crown, are parts of an honorific monument that was in the center of the agora—I assume that in due time it too will be reconstructed.
