Visible is the central door of the five that led on to the stage area. Note the detailed molding, which separates the lower from the upper portion. Statues were placed in the window–like niches in both the upper and lower portions of the skene.

This theater is one of the best preserved from the Roman world. The architect Zeno the son of Theodore built it during the reign of Marcus Aurelius (A.D. 161–180).
