Stadium and Tunnel

Stadium and Tunnel

View looking west across the stadium at the exit of the tunnel that leads from the apodyterium into the stadium.  Note the sloping hillside on the far side of the track.  This is the area of the “seating.”  Here at Nemea there were not actual seats, but rather a series of terraces on which the spectators sat.  It is estimated that the stadium could seat 40,000 spectators.

The (un)dressing area (apodyterium) is located beyond the rise on just above the center line right (south) of the center of the image.
