Bath Pool

Bath Pool

View looking west at the large rectangular pool (plunge bath) of the bath house that is located not too far from the Temple of Zeus.  Note the stairs on the right that lead down into the (now remnants of) pool.

This pool was probably used by athletes and others — it was built during the Hellenistic Period, that is in the fourth century B.C.  On the far side of the rectangular pool are four basins.

Water for the baths came from a spring located about 0.5 mi. [800 m.] to the east of the bathhouse.
