Theater

Theater

View looking southwest at the seating and stage area of the semi–circular theater at Corinth.  The original theater dates to the fifth century B.C. although it went through many reconstructions.  In later years it was used for wild–beast shows and gladiator fights—note the low semi–circular barrier surround the orchestra area.

The back corner of the stage area is visible in the lower left portion of the image and part of the semi–circular cavea is visible just left of the center of the image.

The picture was taken from very near the Erastus Inscription.
