View looking south down into the Odeion of Herodes Atticus.  The well-preserved stage area and rear stage wall (scaenae frons) are well preserved — the later to three stories in places.

Note the three entrances on the stage wall along with the eight niches.  Originally this stage wall was covered with marble veneer and statues (of the muses?) were placed in the niches.

The semi-circular orchestra area is visible as is the cavea.  There is a diazoma (belt) that divides the cavea into two parts.  The lower part has five wedged-shape seating areas (cunei) while above the diazoma there are ten.
