Victory Wreaths 1

Victory Wreaths 1

View of two (modern) wreaths that were used to crown the winners of the games at Isthmia  (on the left) and Olympia  (on the right).

At the Isthmian games a wreath of the branches of a pine tree (sometimes wilted[!] celery) was awarded to the winner, while at Olympia a wreath of olive leaves went to the victor.

Note the ribbons that hung down the back of the head of the victor.

There were four panhellenic games: those at Nemea, Delphi, Isthmia,  and (especially) at Olympia.
