Canal Crossing

View of boat crossing one of the canals near Cairo.  Note the cable that spans the canal and to which the boat is attached.  Since the boat cannot drift away, only a small motor (not visible) is needed to propel the boat from one bank to another.

On the far bank, note the crouched women who are washing dishes in  the canal.
