Animal Sack

Animal Sack

A modern example of an animal skin that could be put to many uses.  The openings in the skin (orifices) were closed and the skin could be filled with water, milk, or wine.

Sometimes these were used as churns and were filled with milk and hung from a tripod and rocked back and forth—so as to produce a type of yoghurt or creamy cheese.  This type of "container" could also be filled with water and carried by a "traveler."

This type of  technology dates back as far as 3000 B.C.
