The whole of the Tobiad palace had “beasts of gigantic size carved on it” (Josephus Ant. 12.229–23). View of the carved “leopard fountain” that was placed into the lower course of stones in the west wall of the palace.  Originally the water flowed out of its mouth.

Note not only the head, but also its four legs and paws as well as its curled tail.  To view the leopard on the east side of the building Click Here.  For a view of this west wall Click Here .
