View of a remnant of the Roman Road, 12.5 mi. [20 km.] north of Tarsus, which led from Tarsus to the Cilician Gates. Paul probably would have traveled on this road on his second and third journeys as he walked inland (north northwest) from Tarsus into the high plateau of Anatolia.

The road itself is well-preserved in this area. The arch dates to the era of Septimius Severus (ca. A.D. 200).
