Overview

View looking southeast down on to the foundations of the Temple of Apollo.  The temple measured 197 x 79 ft. [60 x 24 m.] and was built primarily out of local limestone.  A columned portico surrounded it, with 6 Doric columns on each end and 15 on each side.

Although the foundations in the image seem distinct enough, its internal plan is not clear, and the exact location of the room — adyton — that housed the Pythian Priestess is not known.

In the right center of the image the deep Pleistos Valley is engulfed in haze.  On the far right, just below center, the top of the Athenian Treasure, with modern scaffolding is visible.
