View looking west northwest at the alabaster throne in the inner room of the “throne room” at Knossos. It has been suggested that the king of Knossos sat on this throne as he ruled his subjects. Note the low benches on both sides of the throne indicating the presences of advisors. On the other hand it has been suggested that this room actually was used for ritual purposes and that a priestess sat on the throne!
The room is decorated with copies of the original frescos. Three Griffins are visible in this images. They are lying among lily plants that are set against a red background.
The stone basin on the left side of the image may have been used for ritual purposes. Note too the stone floor of the room.
