Detailed view looking south southwest at the monumental staircase that leads from Terrace III up to Terrace II. Notice the numerous arched recesses of the Terrace II retaining wall. To the left (east) of the staircase the water staining of a fountain is visible. In the single arched recess, immediately to the right of the staircase is a statue base that was in a small temple dedicated to the Roman Emperor Nero (r. A.D. 54–68).
Note the columns visible on Terrace II above the retaining wall.
