View of two (modern) wreaths that were used to crown the winners of the games at Delphi (Pythian Games—on the left) and Nemea (on the right).
At the Pythian (Delphi) games a wreath of laurel leaves went to the victor (in some countries laurel leaves are known as “bay leaves” and are used in cooking!) while at Nemea the victory crown was made of fresh(!) celery leaves.
Note the ribbons that hung down the back of the head of the victor.
