View looking from the eastern side of the Lower Terrace of the Northern Palace at a small portion of the small private bath. On the right is a doorway—presumably the room that it led to had plunged to the base of Masada hundreds of feet below.
It looks like the sandbags are placed on stairs that led down to the bath.
This Roman Bath included tepid, cold, and hot rooms. The skeletal remains of three individuals, identified as rebels were found in the bath, along with fragments of clothing, sandals, arrows, and pieces of mail armor. Even plated of a woman's braided hair were preserved.
