View looking west southwest at the trench dug during Finkelstein's excavations at Shiloh. The massive inner wall is visible in upper right (north) side of the image. It is 25 ft. [7.6 m.] high and 17 ft. [5 m.] thick!
Below it, to the lower left, is a thinner retaining wall. This retaining wall helps support the sloping glacis, which unfortunately is difficult to discern do to the grown of shrubs.
