View of the well–preserved mosaic floor associated with the first church built on this site by Constantine (dedicated 31 May 339). This floor is visible through this open trap door. Stratigraphy has shown that this floor is probably a fifth century addition to the Constantinian church. On the right side of the image the current floor is visible 2 ft. [0.6 m.] above the mosaic floor.
