View of a study group of young Jewish children in the space between the cenotaphs of Abraham and Sarah.
The banner on the far side of the class indicates the direction towards the cenotaphs of Isaac and Rebecca. Note how the Hebrew banners partially cover the Arabic writing on the walls. For over 400 years, until 1967, Jews and Christians were forbidden to enter the Cave of Machpelah. Today the structure is divided into Muslim (mosque) and Jewish (synagogue) areas.
