Radar Hill Memorial

Looking down on a collection of Israeli military vehicles and tanks that are on display at the foot of the lookout tower on "Radar Hill."

"Radar Hill" is so named because of the radar station, or radio transmitter, that was located there during the days of the British Mandate over Palestine.  It is situated about 7.5 mi. northwest of Jerusalem and sits on a ridge that approaches the Central Benjamin Plateau from the west—the Valley of Aijalon to Kiriath Jearim to Radar Hill to Biddu to Gibeon.  The road on this ridge was important in both ancient and modern times.  The elevation is 2887 ft.

It was heavily fought over during the war of 1949 and was taken from Jordanian forces by the Israelis on June 5, 1967.
