View looking down on the (to me at least) non–descript remains of Canaanite and Hellenistic temples that were just inside the gate of Jaffa. The temple receives its name "Lion Temple" because the skull of a lioness was found here. Possibly Ashtoreth, the Canaanite goddess who is depicted astride a lion, was worshiped here.
