View looking east at the Tomb of the sons of Hezir.
The tomb is carved out of solid rock. The two columns in the front are of the Greek Doric style. The lintel above them is composed of triglyphs and metopes and bears a Hebrew inscription (not visible in image) indicating that the tomb belonged to a family of priests - the "sons of Hezir" (1 Chronicles 24:15). On the left (north) of the tomb note the carvings in the limestone. This area was also part of the tomb complex—a memorial monument called a nephesh.
