Theater Rear 2

View of the rear of the theater at Beth Shan.  Four of the vomitoria are visible.  In the distance the tell of Beth Shan is visible above the trees.  This picture was taken before the extensive excavation of the lower city of Scythopolis—where the trees in the photo are at.

The theater was built in the second century A.D. upon an earlier first century theater.  It seated 7,000 persons.
