This brass weight with a cross was found in the excavation of a Byzantine Church at Hippos/Sussita—a Hellenistic–Roman site east of the Sea of Galilee—in 2013. After cleaning it revealed a cross surrounded by a church—Michael Eisenberg, the excavator believes that the church is the "Church of the Holy Sepulcher" in Jerusalem.
Because of Muslim sensitivities, the cross was covered with a mixture of tin and lead. See the diagram below for a clear view of the object.
