Mound/Tell

View looking north at the citadel of the tel. On top of the citadel is a lone tree, left of center. The citadel was inhabited through all of the periods attested at Hazor, but it was the only area inhabited from the rule of Solomon until Tiglath–pileser III in 732 B.C, destroyed it. The citadel contains some 21 strata (levels of civilizations).

The green grass indicates that this picture was taken in the early spring. Note the snow-covered mountain in the distance. It is Mt. Hermon 9,232 ft. high [2813 m.].
