View, looking east, at the stratigraphy of Hazor. On the left of the diagram is the lower tell that was almost 175 acres [70 ha.] in size. It has 5 strata. On the right is the citadel about 30 acres [12 ha.]. It has 21 strata. The citadel was inhabited throughout the history of Hazor, including the days of Solomon up until the Assyrian ruler Tiglath–pileser III, who destroyed it in 732 B.C.
Both the citadel and the lower tel were inhabited during the days of Joshua and Deborah and Barak.
