South Door

The Marian (Mary) door on the south side of the Church of the Annunciation.

The panels on the door are "read" from left to right beginning in the lower left (consult the "Max Size Available" to view the details).

Lower panel from left to right:  parent of Mary rejoice at her birth; dedication of Mary in the temple; Mary betrothed to Joseph; the annunciation of Gabriel (the angel) to Mary.

Middle panel from left to right:  Mary visits Elizabeth (mother of John the Baptist); birth of Jesus; first miracle of Jesus (water into wine at wedding at Cana); Mary at the crucifixion of Jesus.

Top panel from left to right:  Mary weeps over body of Jesus; assumption of Mary; crowning of Mary in heaven; Mary the Mother of the Church.
