View looking northeast at the Wadi Hammam. On the right (south) are the Arbel Cliffs. In the distance the blue waters of the northwest corner of the Sea of Galilee is visible.
Some have suggested that the ancient caravan route, the "International Coastal Highway," ran through the Wadi Hammam. There is some logic in this for there is a very good spring at the northeastern end of the wadi, but the wadi itself is very narrow and rugged (= difficult for travel and venerable to attack). Possibly the route actually ran to the north of this whole complex of cliffs and wadi.
