A detailed view of one of the capitals used in the fifth/sixth-century synagogue at Capernaum. Note especially the three Jewish features: the seven-branch menorah on a tripod, to its left an incense shovel, and to its right a ram’s horn (shophar). Below it are typical Corinthian acanthus leaves.
