View from the Sea of Galilee looking at the Church/Chapel of the Primacy of Peter. This small chapel is built of local black basalt stones. It preserves the memory of the event described in John 21.
After the resurrection of Jesus a number of his disciples went fishing. After fishing all night, they caught nothing. But at the command of Jesus they were successful. Jesus was on land preparing a “breakfast” of fish and bread on a “fire of burning coals.” There, after questioning, Jesus commissioned Peter to “feed His sheep”—thus the “primacy of Peter” designation.
