Eastern Entrance

View looking northwest at the eastern entrance to the Roman Temple dedicated to the deity "Baalshamin" (= Roman Jupiter).

This facade still stands to a height of 25 ft. [7.5 m.].  In the center is the main entrance that was approached by a series of stairs.  To the right (north) and left (south) of this main entrance subsidiary entrances are visible.

Some believe that this was an oracular shrine to which worshipers came in order to receive an answer to their requests—similar to shrines at Delphi and Didyma, etc.
